A Message from Jaime Mejias (Mito)

Founder’s Letter: A Message from Jaime Mejias (Mito)
President, Kana Samurai Foundation

Fifteen years ago, I was invited into a world that forever changed me.

Deep in the heart of the Amazon, among the sacred rivers and towering trees, I met the Noke Koi people — known by many as the Nukikui. What began as a humble gesture of support turned into something much deeper: a recognition, a bond, and eventually, a calling.

We weren’t just outsiders offering help. We were seen — accepted — as allies, as family. The elders called us Kana Samurai: guardians of the healing light. And in that name, a responsibility was born.

Since that moment, we have walked alongside the Noke Koi with humility and love. We’ve built shelters, delivered food, provided clean water, and supported healers, mothers, elders, and children. But beyond the material, we’ve shared fire, laughter, silence, ceremony, and prayer. We’ve listened, learned, and let the forest guide our steps.

This is not charity. This is reciprocity.
This is Ayni — the sacred balance between giving and receiving, between protecting and being protected.

I write this letter to make one thing clear:
The Kana Samurai Foundation was not built from theory.
It was built from sweat, sacrifice, trust, and love.
It was born in the jungle, not in a boardroom.
And it continues because we show up — year after year, village after village, need after need.

Today, we serve not only to improve the quality of life in the villages, but to preserve something humanity desperately needs: the ancestral wisdom of Indigenous peoples who live in harmony with Earth. Their medicine is real. Their teachings are vital. Their survival is sacred.

And we will do everything we can to protect them — not just as allies, but as family.

Thank you for standing with us.

With deep gratitude,
Jaime Mejias (Mito)
President & Founder
